How to properly care for your skin?

Cleansing your skin is the foundation of everyday skincare. Morning and evening cleansing, however, differs; both are important steps in keeping the skin fresh and healthy. While morning cleansing will rid you of remnants of evening cosmetics, dust and bacteria that gathers during sleep, evening cleansing must be more thorough so that is gets rid of all the makeup and impurities that have settled on the skin throughout the day. These are our tips; what is best for cleansing based on skin type:

How to correctly care for and cleanse normal skin:

  • For morning cleansing, gel or foam that do not contain aggressive substances that would otherwise disrupt the pH of the skin are ideal. Always use cool water. You can always use a sonic brush that will gently deep clean the skin to help.
  • Evening cleansing should be done in two phases. You begin the process with makeup removing oil or balsam which dissolves makeup and cleanses impurities. Then follow up with a light gel or foam (it can be the same one that you use in the morning) and thoroughly clean. The last step is a light tonic that will freshen and tone the skin.

How to correctly care for and cleanse dry skin:

  • For morning cleansing you need a maximally gentle product such as a hydrating cleansing milk or gentle micellar water. Avoid hot water that would otherwise dry out the skin more.
  • In the evening you should ideally use a balsam or cleansing milk that will gently cleanse the skin while also hydrating it. Then follow up with micellar water or cream foam. Avoid products containing alcohol and rather go for hydrating formulas that contain hyaluronic acid, ceramides or lanoline.

How to correctly care for and cleanse greasy and otherwise problematic skin:

  • For morning cleansing use an antibacterial gel that will regulate oil in the skin. You can consider products with salicylic acid or tea tree oil.
  • In the evening you must cleanse in two phases. Try a light makeup removing milk or oil. Oils that change to foam after contact with water are ideal for greasy skin – they freshen up the skin and rid it of impurities while simultaneously not drying it out. Use gel again for a deep cleansing in the second step.

How to correctly care for and cleanse mixed skin:

  • For morning cleansing use a gentle gel or foam that will help remove excess oil in the T-zone without drying out the skin.
  • In the evening micellar water or makeup removing oil can come in handy as they can perfectly remove makeup and impurities. Follow up with cleansing gel or foam. None of the products should be excessively aggressive so that the skin can maintain its natural harmony.

What is skin detox?

Why not give your skin something extra from time to time with a detox? Especially in Autumn, when even the lack of vitamin D makes your skin look grey and tired. A detox will rid it of harmful substances, remnants of oil and wax, loosen the pores, soften its texture and brighten the skin.

How to detox the skin?

  • Use a gentle product devoid of aggressive components that would rid the skin of its natural oils and needlessly dry it out.
  • Once every fortnight to a month enjoy a gentle peeling. Enzymatic peeling will especially benefit sensitive skin. If your skin is not problematic you could try a mechanical peeling. Do not, however, be too rough on the skin; just gently massage the peeling into your skin with circular motions.
  • Once a week you can give your skin a detoxifying clay mask that will rid the skin of excess oils and impurities while softening the pores and leaving the skin bright and shiny.
  • Regularly clean and change your towels, brushes and sponges. Bacteria love them and you end up putting them on your skin. Make sure to wash your brushes and sponges in cool water with soap once a week and spray them with disinfection throughout the week.

How to correctly apply your makeup?

Always apply makeup on clean skin that has been treated with a hydrating cream. Apply the makeup with cleaned and disinfected brushes, sponges or fingers. Make sure to initially apply a thinner layer, thoroughly spread on your skin and then according to need add more. A vast majority of cosmetic products nowadays have a caring and gentle composition, so they hydrate and protect the skin as well. Do not, however, forget about evening cleansing. If there is one thing that really hurts your skin, it is remnants of makeup that stay on it until morning; like this you will only ensure skin problems, wrinkles and faster ageing skin. Cleansing your skin is an absolute, everyday foundation that you must not ever skip; just like brushing your teeth.
